Breaking Our Badly? Here Are 5 Foods To Watch Out For!
We’ve all been there. You wake up in the morning, rush to the bathroom mirror, and scream in horror because there’s a weird patch of pimples on your face. It’s almost like they appeared overnight! What’s even more frustrating is that you haven’t been doing anything differently, so what the heck? Well, my friend, what you eat may have something to do with it. Here are five foods you might want to limit or avoid if you want to keep your skin clear and smooth.

Dairy products
You might love your milk, cheese, and yogurt, but did you know that they could be contributing to your acne? Studies have found a link between dairy intake and acne breakouts. This could be because the hormones in cow’s milk stimulate our oil glands, leading to clogged pores. Switching to plant-based milk and dairy-free alternatives might be worth a shot if you’re struggling with breakouts.

Sugar
We know, it sucks to hear this, but sugar is not your friend if you want good skin. When we consume sugar, it triggers a spike in insulin, which can lead to inflammation. Inflammation, in turn, can make acne worse. Furthermore, sugar molecules can attach to collagen and elastin fibers, causing your skin to age faster. So, try to limit your intake of sugary drinks and snacks.

Processed foods
Processed foods are notorious for high amounts of salt, sugar, unhealthy fats, and artificial additives. Eating a lot of processed foods can mess up your gut health, which in turn can trigger inflammation and breakouts on your skin. If you can’t avoid them altogether, try to make healthier choices within the processed food category.

Fried foods
Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good plate of French fries? Unfortunately, foods that are deep-fried can be bad news for your skin. The high heat and oil used in frying can cause your pores to become clogged and inflamed. So, skip the deep-fried stuff and opt for grilled or baked options instead.

Caffeine
Uh-oh, is your daily coffee the enemy of your skin? Caffeine might increase blood flow to your skin, which can give you a temporary glow. However, it could also be dehydrating your skin, making it look dull and tired. Plus, caffeine can trigger the release of stress hormones, which can make your acne worse. Try switching to decaf or reducing your caffeine intake to see if that makes a difference.

Nobody wants to deal with acne, especially when it seems like it’s out of our control. But by making tweaks to our diet, we might be able to make a difference. Remember, everyone’s body is different, and what works for one person might not work for another. But hey, it’s worth a shot, right? So, if you’re struggling with acne, try avoiding or reducing your intake of dairy, sugar, processed foods, fried foods, and caffeine. Here’s to clearer skin and happier days!

Meet Jean Kelly -Acne Esthetician

I'm Jean Kelly.
I received my esthetician license in 2012.  I've been working on skin since then learning all I can about rosacea and acne. I took a course to be an acne specialist so I could learn even more and have access to exclusive products.  My kids struggled with acne for years.  My daughter would cry, her face covered in pimples, and beg me "please don't make me go to school".  It was heartbreaking to see her in pain.  We went to doctors and they never tried to find the causes, they only wanted to prescribe medication. .. some with really bad side effects.  One summer she went swimming and came out so sunburn with second degree burns from one of the prescription medications.
My son's skin wasn't much better.  His was mostly on his neck, chest and back.  We went through the same routing with doctors just prescribing meds.  Nothing helped.
I finally decided I needed to research what causes acne.  I went to school to be an esthetician thinking I could get some answers.  It seemed like everyone was perplexed!  Once I got my license I was able to buy products that only licensed esthetician can buy.  I found a product line that worked great!  My daughter said her face looks it's best when she's using it and I must say she is beautiful!
I decided my purpose in life was to help others that are struggling with acne, to clear their skin and change their lifestyle to include healthier foods and supplements.
I learned that what is going on inside your body shows up on the outside!  Gut and liver health are an important part of clearing acne along with a good skin care routine.
Are you ready to get started clearing your skin?
